Position Summary:
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the Analyst, Business Planning will operate as part of the Strategy & Growth team and focus on supporting growth initiatives across Detroit Medical Center (DMC), including service-line growth, business development, and market assessments. This position serves as a direct advisor to GCEO, GCSO, hospital CEOs, and hospital CSOs and provide data-driven guidance along with building out tools and assets to empower hospital-level decision-making.
Beyond market support, analyst will be critical in developing the team infrastructure necessary to help drive strategic work.This will involve building/running a bespoke sales operations engine to enable business development efforts, refreshing and upgrading strategic dashboards empowering hospital leaders, and developing ad-hoc analyses for markets and hospital leaders.Key internal projects will range from effectiveness assessment of market programs, long-term strategic planning, and financial modeling of new programs / initiatives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as advisor to Group CEO and Group CSO for major growth initiatives
- Manage annual and multi-year business planning activities for market
- Develop and maintain market analytics solution(s) deployed across the market, inclusive of managing external vendor relationships
- Develop materials for market assessment and pro-forma development for major capital projects
- Prepare and give presentations to Group Leadership
- Develop solutions to ad-hoc analytical and reporting requests utilizing available tools and technologies
- Partner with market operators as well as develop communications for Group Leadership
- Work with hospital executive leaders to develop data-driven recommendations to complex problems and effectively communicate insights.
- Coordinate collection of and/or abstract data elements from multiple sources.
- Design and develop audit tools to monitor data accuracy.
- Ensures the accuracy and completeness of the data.
- Analyzes information to identify trends and make recommendations for improvements, as appropriate
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Experience with Excel including developing complex scenario-based decision support models/proformas
- 2-4 years of related work experience in management consulting, financial services, or decision support in healthcare (preferred)
- Experience with decision support tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI)

- Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems and drive to actionable solutions
- Strong verbal and written communications, including presentation skills
- Strong sense of accountability, including a passion for owning, organizing, and driving multiple projects in parallel and seeing them through to completion
- Ability to organize effectively, solve problems quickly and clearly articulate a position with sound logic and supporting empirical evidence
- A mastery of a variety of communication modalities is required to include leading meetings, making formal presentations, and writing complex documents and managing complex relationships over time
6.Analytical ability in order to participate in the strategic planning of data resources; collect, analyze and report data; analyze and interpret discrepancies, issues or problems to ensure data accuracy/integrity; to identify appropriate sampling techniques; obtain advice when precedents are unclear or unavailable and to determine methods for ensuring compliance with functional/organizational/service policies and procedures.
7.Communication and/or interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external customers/stakeholders related to data abstraction/manipulation/analysis, and to effectively inform, instruct and facilitate the understanding and use of generated data.
8.Familiarity with the extraction and manipulation of data from disparate sources to support the study of clinical, functional, service and cost outcomes.
9.Technical knowledge of health-related data involved in clinical improvement, including medical record and administrative data.Working knowledge of public health and other external data sources.
10.Ability to work with a team in identifying sources of data and methodology for collection.
11.Sales operations support experience
12.Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment with a willingness to take on ad-hoc projects and ramp-up up quickly on unfamiliar content
13.Leadership skills including demonstrated willingness to pursue leadership roles with increasing levels of accountability comfort with decision-making responsibilities, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others and to forge alliances and garner support
