DLP Eye Group is actively seeking Ophthalmic Assistants and Technicians for full time float openings across multiple locations including Los Angeles, Montebello and Van Nuys. General Summary
Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician is responsible for performing basic diagnostic tests and assisting physicians or optometrist with clinical procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for administering eye drops and oral medications as well as inserting and removing contacts
- Accurately test patients distance acuity, near acuity, confrontation visual fields, stereo and color testing
- Perform lensometry on singe, bifocal, and progressive lenses as well as transposition accurately with minimal guidance
- Triages patients appropriately based on appointment time and acuity of problem prepares patient for doctor and maintains smooth, efficient flow throughout clinic
- Must be able to travel between offices, as needed, to staff other clinics.
- Obtain patient history and provide accurate and consistent documentation
- Provide education to patients before and after procedures in terms they can understand, providing written instructions as available.
- Ensure that all medical records are in appropriate order, secured in the chart and each page contains patients full name and birthday before returning to medical records
- Able to perform Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer accurately and perform refractometry with minimal assistance
- Has a basic understanding of ophthalmic medications including name, strength, dosage and reason for use.
- May be assigned ASC duties as appropriate, ranging from Provider assistance to running of lasers or related items
- Able to correctly perform the following procedures without supervision: Keratomery (ARK); IOL Master; Pachymetry; Topography; Check angles with slit lamp; Identify pupil abnormalities and perform careful pupil measurements

Qualifications
Education:
Required:High School Diploma or equivalent;
Preferred: Completion of COA or COT Training Program
Experience:
Preferred: At least one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant
Demonstrated Skills:
Preferred:Proficiency using a computer and a Lensometer
Preferred: Bilingual English/Spanish
