As an Orthopedic Physician Assistant at Tenet Health, in the beautiful Palm Springs, CA our team is seeking multiple PA/NP positions amongst our growing surgical team. Being the only Level 1 trauma center in the area, our team of highly skilled surgeons currently provide care for a vast range of our community's needs. This encompasses but is not Iimited to, orthopedic trauma, joint arthroplasty, hand and sports medicine (no Spine). This position involves providing direct patient care in a high-volume setting, assisting in surgical procedures, and participating in training of medical students and residents. The Orthopedic PA will work collaboratively with supervising orthopedic surgeons, nursing staff, residents, and other health care professionals to deliver the highest standard of care to patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal issues.
Orthopedic PA/NP Job Responsibilities:- Four, 10-hour shifts, with rotating weekend trauma call schedule (rotates with 5 other PA/NPs)
- No first call, or night shifts
- First assist in surgical procedures, providing aid and technical functions that help surgeons carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
- Provide pre-operative assessments, explanations and consents to both patients and family.
- Support outpatient clinic with direct patient care responsibilities, will work collaboratively with other providers
- Conduct comprehensive and problem focused histories and physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat orthopedic conditions in both the emergency and clinic settings
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as Xray's, MRls, and CT scans
- Provide reductions, splinting, wound care and bedside procedures when indicated
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, documenting all patient interactions, treatments, and procedures according to hospital policy
- Provide pre/post operative hospital rounds and consultations when necessary
- Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and the surrounding area hospitals, these include an outpatient surgery center and 2 other level 3 hospitals in the desert
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Licensed to practice as a PA in California
- Previous experience in orthopedics is preferred, especially in a trauma center, but will consider new graduates
- BLS Certification and DEA required
