Up to $5,000 Sign-On bonus based on experience.

The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is under the supervision of the Directory of Pharmacy and will work directly with the health care team and patients to provide safe and effective pharmacy services in addition to the dispensing of medications. Provides consultative services to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff. Ensures appropriate drug therapy, implements and monitors clinical protocols and guidelines, and enhances the delivery of evidence-based medicine. Other responsibilities include education, representation on medical center committees, and collaboration on clinical initiatives. Documents clinical activities and outcomes. Provides prescribed medications and compounds according to professional standards and practice. Performs at an advanced skills level. Prioritizes work demands. Participates in various professional education activities, which includes working with students from the local Colleges of Pharmacy and, Pharmacy Practice Residents. Assists with development and mentoring of clinical staff pharmacist. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited College of Pharmacy

PREFERRED EDUCATION : Doctor of Pharmacy Degree

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE : 2 years hospital clinical experience in Critical Care or 1 year hospital clinical experience in Critical Care and completion of an accredited Critical Care residency program.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 5 years hospital clinical experience in Critical Care

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State Board of Pharmacy License or eligible for reciprocity.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist-BCPS
