Twin Cities Community Hospital

Twin Cities Community Hospital, a 122-bed acute care hospital, has been caring for the communities of Northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. With a medical staff of more than 200 physicians and 400 caregivers and support staff, the hospital specializes in emergency care, obstetrics, orthopedics, digestive disorders, wound care and a broad array of medical, surgical and outpatient services. POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director, the Charge Nurse utilizes the nursing process and organizational/leadership skills to coordinate services of staff to patients during the designated shift. Assures patient care is appropriate to the age developmental level of patients served. Assesses staff need for the unit, collaborates with the Staffing Coordinator, Nurse Director, and House Supervisor to ensure patients needs are met. Inspires enthusiasm and confidence by motivating and directing others toward a given objective. Develops a cohesive team ensuring maximum use of skills within the group. Consistently supports departmental and hospital goals as demonstrated by their actions. Defines responsibilities and authority limits based on the abilities of staff members, organizational needs and priorities. Demonstrates the ability to manage the unit in the absence of the Director/Assistant Director or designee.
Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience

Minimum:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing, BSN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years acute care experience or equivalent
  • RN skills as described for designated unit

Licenses/Certification

  • Current California RN license, BLS certification, ACLS (Required within 6 months of hire/transfer)
  • Unit specific certifications and competencies as required

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Communication is an essential skill requiring the ability to see, hear, and speak. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multitask in a fast paced, fluid environment of changing priorities. Requires advanced skills in word processing with the ability to establish and organize tables and excel documents. Requires accurate use and reconciliation of software systems and proprietary financial programs Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Pay Range: $47.33 - $73.34

Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
