Open Heart Certified First Assistant - Excellence in Practice and Patient Care

Position Summary:

As a CVOR First Assistant Tech, you will work collaboratively with our surgical team under the direction and supervision of the surgeon. Your role will involve providing crucial aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions during Open Heart surgeries. In addition to your intraoperative responsibilities, you may also be involved in preoperative and postoperative duties to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities:

Ensure the availability of appropriate equipment for procedures.

Review permits and procedure details to confirm accuracy.

Assist in the safe and proper movement and positioning of the patient.

Provide skilled assistance during surgical procedures using a range of techniques.

Collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure smooth operations and patient safety.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Required: Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited program.
• Preferred: Associate Degree.

Licensure/Certifications:

• Current license, certification, or registration to practice the profession as required by state regulations.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Required: Surgical Technology Certification.
• Required: Surgical First Assistant certification.

Experience:

• Required: 3 years of scrubbing and/or assisting experience.
• Preferred: 5 years of experience as a surgical technician.

Skills:

• Proficiency in a variety of surgical techniques.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in high-pressure situations.
