JOB DESCRIPTION:

Tenet Physician Resources (TPR) employs more than 2,000 physicians and healthcare providers and over 4,500 staff members across the United States. The VP, Physician Resources is responsible for the National Operations of Tenet Healthcare’s employed medical and surgical specialists’ practices, primary care practices, as well as provider staffing solutions. This includes overseeing and directing all operations and business activities such as provider human resources requirements, recruitment and retention, customer service and satisfaction, financial performance, revenue cycle management, clinical excellence, and compliance with regulatory bodies. The VP, Tenet Physician Resources will lead routine clinical, operational, and financial reviews to hold local and regional physician practice leadership accountable for delivering high-quality and efficient services. This includes coordinating with operations leadership across Tenet business segments as well as corporate functional departments (Legal, Managed Care, IT, HR, etc.) to ensure effective delivery of services. This role will also be responsible for strategic planning, development, and implementation to strengthen TPR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute upon opportunities for strategic partnerships, affiliations, mergers/acquisitions to expand the organization’s reach, capabilities, and market share in alignment with TPR strategic priorities. This involves assessing potential synergies, negotiating agreements, and integrating acquired practices or facilities into the organization.
  • Manage the organization’s resources for investments, growth, and continued operations to align with strategic goals.
  • Incorporate upcoming opportunities and risks within the industry into the organization’s business planning process.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring and retention of providers to meet staffing needs by developing long-term recruitment strategies for building and maintaining a robust pipeline of provider talent
  • Grow specialized leadership structure and create succession plans to ensure continuity of administrative and clinical expertise within organization.
  • Ensure that all providers are practicing according to regulatory standards. Oversight of clinical subject matter experts to review performance, optimization opportunities, and current / future programmatic needs.
  • Promote culture or safety to maintain high standards in quality of care.
  • Management of physician and advance practice clinician compensation models, recruitment, and renewals as well as management of individual provider productivity to industry benchmarks.
  • Optimization of provider staffing coverage, including staffing mix adjustments and utilization of telemedicine.
  • Review of proformas for coverage agreements with hospital / market leadership, integrating productivity benchmarks, administrative optimization, and clinical performance.
  • Hold providers, practice operations, revenue cycle management and TPR leadership accountable to targeted quality, operational, and financials metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for improving EBITDA and cash flows in collaboration with practice and hospital leadership.
  • Management of Financial results for employed provider groups, to include daily/weekly monitoring, proactive partnership with Revenue Cycle Management, and prompt resolution of underperforming accounts.
  • Adhere to and support the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet, including Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Demonstrate support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

At least fifteen years of progressive practice management experience, including in multi-market, multispecialty group of physicians and management responsibility for all operational areas including finance.

Must have advanced understanding of physician practice start-up requirements, provider recruitment, provider compensation models, clinic throughput and patient access principles, professional fee billing/collections, accounts receivable management, employee supervision, physician credentialing, medical office policies/procedures, Practice Management IT systems, and industry benchmarks.

  • Proven experience in recruiting and retaining top-tier physician talent, including knowledge of effective recruitment strategies and incentives.
  • The ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals and drive sustainable growth and success.
  • Strong leadership skills and understanding of group processes, teamwork, and site/cost center-based management with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster a collaborative work environment, and effectively manage resources.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build rapport, negotiate effectively, and resolve conflicts diplomatically with providers, management, vendors, consultants, and other clients.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify problems, evaluate options and make sound decisions under pressure, and consistently follow through to creative solutions.
  • Knowledge of and experience negotiating with third-party payers
  • Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving expertise.
  • Ability to navigate teams through structural changes.
  • Ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with attention to detail in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other accounting software packages.
  • Commitment to ethical leadership practices, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of decision-making and operations.

Education/Certifications:


A bachelor’s degree in management or related field is required and an MD, MHA, or MBA is also preferred.

Travel:

Position needs to be able to travel up to 50-75% time as needed.
